Maybe you need to re-read my statement above; I never said his horses were out of control, I also NEVER stated the driver wasn't an IDIOT (or the group of drivers).
I stated in my opinion if it were me, I'd put my animals welfare at the top of my priority list and find another way NOT on a highway or freeway. -
All i saw in that report was "horses on a highway that had little or no shoulder" and that was enough for me.
Like i said to before I honestly think it's a pretty neat thing to do, honestly I do. The fact of little or no shoulder and highway is enough to make me find another route, even if i have to turn around and backtrack.
This is my opinion, it's not written in stone; it's just what I myself would do. -
I have read it. You indicate the driver of the camper should not have been on the highway. His horses may spook.
How might someone see the country without being on a highway?
I am only referring to the fact that he was legal for what he was doing. It is legal for a horse drawn vehicle on US highways. It is also legal to ride a bike on the highway.
I am not saying you were sticking up for the drivers of the trucks. -
You're right, in my OPINION the guy shouldn't have been out on the highway. Horses can and will spook at times. I'm not saying they spooked and caused the crash - as he was rear ended.
Well as i've stated before, I'm not familiar with the area, but around here there's lots of much more SCENIC ways around a highway. I would have not went on until I found one of them.
I'm not arguing legality of it, it's legal for me to have a relationship with my nutty next door neighbor - even though it's legal DOESN'T mean it's a wise choice for me to do.
Good, I'm glad you read that far.
Are we really going to continue on this pointless pissing match? -
True for your area. Maybe when he gets better, you can show him.
I know I live in a farm, rural area and we have cars that hit the farmers occassionally. One time a car clipped a combine and claimed they never saw it.
If you say it is pointless, then fine.
Just remember things can happen anytime, especially in a truck. -
I think things can be learned from all tragedies, and myself with this story I'll keep an open mind that there's not JUST cars out here with me.
Aren't Combines like 2 stories tall and take more than one lane of traffic
