got a qc the other day from the higher-ups letting us no that the DOT is now able to access the QC, i have tried to research this and have come up empty
so, can someone explain to me and the other what exactly DOT is able to do, when they can check the qc
is it at a DOT insp. is during a DOT audit, or if ur involved in a accident?
i wanna no what the laws are of this?
when they can, and cant.
one of our drivers was involved in an accident, sadly a 4-wheeler was killed, but the driver was not charged, due to error on the 4-wheelers part, but i heard the DOT is going back 5 months on his QC to macth it w/the logs he has.
im just cousious,

It's a matter of saved records.
Many companies maintained records for up to 6 months. Voluntarily.
Now they're required to. The data can be used during audits, but is primiraly used for accident investigation.
Records will include GPS positioning data. Time run for the day. Hard brakes. Speeds, coasting, and a lot of seemingly irrelavent data.
You shouldn't have anything to worry about. As long as you run 100% legal at all times.
RBPC Thanks this. -
well if i owned a company i would not have qualcomm.just another way to blame the trucker.
Wiseguywireless Thanks this. -
The only way they can blame the trucker is if the trucker is doing something ILLEGAL!!!,....Hopetobeontheroadsoon, luvtheroad, RBPC and 2 others Thank this.

ok, so me/we/us dont have to worry about it during a rd side or scale house random inspection?
i said that about owning a company, wed use phones, thats how it used to be done, no reason they cant go back to that. -
Just so you know, a friend had an accident where the other occupants were injured and in hospital awhile. The attorney for them requested the log books for the 6 mos before and after. Of course no one has the copies this late.
They requested the copies of his cell phone bill for the month involved along with the BOL and are still looking for more info. You know they will be looking at the times of the calls and the towers involved.luvtheroad Thanks this. -
smoke signals.... thats the way to do it.

The attorney's know exactly what to look for! If anything is questionable you will be hammered on the stand about it.

I know that. My friend who never believes me, will no doubt find this out. I suspect that they will find there was not a 10 hour break between some phone calls that might have hit towers and some others made later in the 24 hour period.
