Hello all. For the past couple of months I have been trying to get back into driving a truck. For all the info about why I left trucking and why I am returning you can view my blog. So, I was just waiting for my refresher course for the 23rd of February when I decided that I would call PAM. I had called them back in November to ask about refresher training and they basically told me there was none at that point. Well, I called them and they said they were interested in me and that I should fill out an application and send in the driver release forms through fax right away.

Now, I am not ignorant when it comes to dealing with companies. I know that PAM saying they are interested is in no way, shape, or form a gurantee of employment; especially in these times. However, I am excited that there is just that chance that something good will come out of this. I cannot just put this opportunity (and it is an opportunity) down, I have to try.

So, I thought that since this is my most favoritist and the most bestest website that I would just keep you ahead of this situation with PAM. It may not go far, but at least its interesting.

Well, the lady in charge of refreshing said that I would attend the 2 day orientation and then go 2 weeks with a trainer for insurance purposes. I am now just waiting for a call or something. This is the first real chance I've had to get back into trucking in a couple months.

    Wish me luck:biggrin_25525:

Gods blessings on you..... Any info you have on PAM would be great. It is a company we've thought about ourselves but would love to hear from someone who may know more! Thanks

Thank-you all. Today I actually received an email with a release form to fax in right away. I did that and now all I have to do is wait for a call. When I called Friday afternoon they said I should hear something on Tuesday or Wednesday. I am happy I am at least being considered. I shall not work myself up over it, I would be just setting myself up for a large let down if I don't get this job.

If I get the job I shall be happy. If not then I still have my refresher to look forward to and will just let this situation pass like water under a bridge.

Well, I called PAM today and was told that they had declined me. I thought I would get it, especially after they had me fax over some paperwork on Monday and Tuesday. After waiting 2 days I decided to call and was told that they had declined me.

Their reason for declining me was "you don't have enough experience." This is funny because they were telling me they were going to put me in a refresher. Aren't refreshers for those who have been out of the industry? This is the same reason I was given when I applied for CRST's refresher back in November. CRST said in order to be in a refresher you had to have at least 1 years driving experience in the past 3 years. What was silly about that was that most companies will hire you no questions asked if you have a years experience in the past 3 years.

Well, I need to just forget about this little setback. I still have my community college refresher course for this coming Monday. It is an 11 hour a day, 4 day course at my old truck driving school located on a college campus. I am excited about that. Hopefully, this refresher will help when I apply for other trucking companies. Well, wish me luck. I think the worst thing of all is that I won't be able to write about anything for you and that this thread wasn't much.

    Thank-you
