They have to be, based on what they sent me today.
I can get XM everything, for $4.99 a month for 3 months.
OR $6.48 a month, for a year sub.
Whatever happened to discounts for long term buys?

Is it getting to expensive dodging Russian satellites?
squirrellsgnwild and Baack Thank this. -
Fortunately the Russian satellite hit an Iridium satellite which is a sat phone satellite, or so we are told. Seriousely, it would be like there were only 7 cars traveling all of the roads in the US, 7 total cars in America, and two of them crashed into each other and got totaled. It's just not plausible that it was an accident.
On to Sirius/XM, I heard earlier in the week that a major stockholder was in a good position to make a hostile takeover and was in the process of doing so. I don't recall the mechanics of it but it sounded likely to happen and could possible pull their fat out of the fire. If I remember right it was something along the lines of Sirius/XM's debt coming to what could best be described as a margin call and this guy is offering to buy up a controlling interest in the company for the amount of money they owe on their debt. It could be good or it could be a huge problem if he wants to do something different with the company.Baack Thanks this. -
Copyright laws are important, but when Bill Mack has to move from Open Road and cut his ties to his sponsors to stay on XM/Sirius somethings wrong
-
-
Nothing wrong with it. It's called "Radio". It just works like that.
You have non compete clauses, etc etc.
Plus, every other truck on the road has access to XM/Sirius now. There's no need for Bill to stay with his original arrangement and sponsors. XM offers Bill a larger audience, with higher 1/4 hour ratings than regular broadcast radio. Which in turn means higher fees and salaries for everyone involved.
The original Open Road, most likely guaranteed no overlapping competition in the market. So it was necessary for the ties to be cut. -
The problem has to do with the Recording Artists and the new copyright laws. The new law is a mess that hurts the music industry by restricting the outlets that music can be played on. One of their big objectives is to get rid of online small broadcasters such as on Live365 or Shoutcast. Bill Mack had to make a choice between music and sponsorship. I'm glad he choose to stay with his music and especially the Sunday Social.
You may want to find out how nuts these people have become since their attitude is as outlandish as Ma Bell before the breakup. Just remember their attitude was that it was against the law to use your own phone or install your own phone jack.notarps4me and dancnoone Thank this. -
But I wasn't aware that was the issue with Bill and Open Road, I don't listen to either.
But thanks for the info. I'll have to take a closer look for myself now.
