After a long and hard fight. Citizens of Indiana have found that having FOOD, is much better than arguing about NOT building an interstate.
It's amazing how cheap you'll abandon your beliefs. -
I wouldn't be so quick to say stuff like that danc694u. This is a very and I mean very touchy subject for a lot of people in the area where it is going to be going through. Do you know how much time this new interstate is going to save a driver vs. going up US 41 and over I-70. 15 minutes. So they want to build a new interstate so that the people of Evansville can save 15 minutes. The amount of farm land that this road is going to go through and use is a lot more than a lot of us want. Now is probably the best time to build it if they still are. I am still for them redoing US 41 instead of building this inerstate. Think of me what you will but I value the farm land over oone more interstate. Also there is a new US 231 being built right now through Spencer County in Indiana. Also a touchy subject. Did we need a new road? Depends on who you ask. All those little towns that the old US 231 went through will dry up and blow away in the wind. I was in high school when they were drawing up plans to build this road, it was going to go 300 yards to the east of my high school, (it is being built there right now) We had to petition the state to put an overpass on state road 162 for fear of high fatalities on that cross road with the high school being right there. It took over 4,000 signitures before the state changed their mind and yes I was one of them that signed it. All these roads are good for getting somewhere fast, but at what cost? I have not abadoned my beliefs, I still believe that they should just update US 41.

I agree with you on updating us41. I'm sure it would have to split off somewhere though. I have traveled us 41/63 to and from Chicaco many times. Its not really a bad road all they need to do is put better shoulders in most places, add some overpasses, and a bypass a town or two.
Its amazing even after a highway gets built how people will still travel the old route to save on MILES instead of time.

I think I may know of one of the towns you speak of bypassing. Could it be Terre Haute. I live there for four years. Too many stop lights.
