What's the best places I can try to get into for my first year of driving? I'm only going to need 1 year than I will be transfering to somewhere else. I just need that 1 year experience. Can anyone help me?

The short novel "Typhoon" by Joseph Conrad has a description of steam ship crew in the late 1800s: "He was one of those men who are picked up at need in the ports of the world. They are competent enough, appear hopelessly hard up, show no evidence of any sort of vice, and carry about them all the signs of manifest failure. The come aboard on an emergency, care for no ship afloat, live in their own atmosphere of casual connection amongst their shipmates who know nothing of them, and make up their minds to leave at inconvenient times. They clear out with no words of leave-taking in some God-forsaken port other men would fear to be stranded in, and go ashore in company of a shabby sea-chest, corded like a treasure-box, and with an air of shaking the ship's dust off their feet."
Nothing has changed.rocknroll nik, DBL_TIME and walleye Thank this. -
If all you need is one year before you can go to wherever your off too then really any company is as good as the other. You aren't looking for long term so I don't really see the need to be picky. Stay away from JB Hunt , and I would take Werner over Swift, but might actually be better off withScneider or Crete or Conway. GTI might be good also. Good Luck to ya

Thanks. I kinda thought that the one year I could deal with some bullcrap. I was looking forward to that. But I'm also looking for the less bullcrap, so I can just keep the wheels moving and get comfortable in there so I don't hurt nobody in them big trucks. I look at them totally different now.

living in port huron i would try to give rumble a call not that they are a good company for an exp driver, but they do hire with no exp and you would be paid relatively well......will most likely get you home more than swift or any other mill type companies would.....yes i used to work for them never had a huge problem until i wanted to go deer hunting and that was more of a two way problem anyways they are called rumble out of deckerville, mi pretty sure they could help you out if they have not filed for bankruptcy yet

I heard of them before. My ex girlfriends dad is working for them. He's had some stuff go wrong like the engine caught on fire, and something happened to the brakes. They left him stranded for a few days down south. And they gave him a trailor that some place refused because it was too old so he had to go get a newer trailor. And he hit a bridge but I think that was more his fault than anything else. That's the only thing I heard about this company. It could be that guy for all I know. Thanks for your info.
