I am about to start with a bulk company driving a pneumatic tanker and I don't have any experience. I only have a week of experience behind the wheel of a 53' dry van. what advice and tips do y 'all have?

How did you only last 1 week in the dry van.
Pneumatic tanker is the least of your problems.
Does the person who hired you know that you
Have a grand total of 1 week behind the wheel.

Is he going to just throw you keys and tell
You to make him some money.
Or send You out with a trainer.

This is either a outlaw company or oilfield
    Company or both.
There the only ones who would send you
Out on your own like this with 1 weeks experience.

GOD & COUNTRY and Suspect Zero Thank this.

You'll learn what you need to know during orientation.
Only thing I recommend is get a good pair of hearing protection; some of those pumps are loud. Get a set of ear muffs like some use on a shooting range.

There is no orientation for these jobs.
It's here's the keys, go get loaded.
I'd be surprised if he even done a road test
    Or drug test

I went through a week orientation running loads with an experienced tanker driver. I wouldn't have had a clue how to unload without that. Probably did 2 weeks total unloading flour, cement powder, liquids, other dry bulk products before they cut me loose on my own. The company didn't have a time limit learning all that; whenever the new driver feels comfortable, they send him out solo. I'd been driving a long time, years, before switching to tankers.

There is going to be a day of orientation and 3 days of training followed up with a day of me following a driver in a truck to do all of the driving and procedures on my own

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Man the asumptions are deep with you. You can’t send a noob out with a pneumatic tank without training. That would be a recipe for a complete and total disaster.

You'll be ok then. My training was longer because we pulled two different types of dry bulk trailers plus liquid trailers.

    GOD & COUNTRY Thanks this.
