Some member on this forum just blew a mx13 rod out the block at 532,000 miles. No warning.
    Bought a 120,000 mile engine for $5,000 lol that's a heck of a deal.

I'll take one of those Red Crybabies any day of the week... Open source on the programming and Quickserve. They can be a reliable motor if certain steps are taken and the owner is up to snuff on turning a wrench. In framed mine with a bag of tools and an iPhone. ;-)

You can overhaul that red engine on the street. Plus all mechanics know that engine.

OK, so I found a Cat C-12 engine brochure, embarrassingly, on my own manuals website. Anyway, it says that 1,200 RPM is the minimum RPM (operating range 1,200-2,100 RPM).

I would suppose that I should avoid going under 1,200 RPM if I want to avoid lugging. I am glad that I looked because I often used it at, say, 1,100 rpm. Thanks a lot guys.

I want to switch from Dd15 to Cummins x15 Efficiency . I don't haul heavy loads. Just waiting to see reviews of X15.

You run at 1,300 or less under load. I see many problems in your future.

Yep... Here she is, fired right up... I rebuilt this baby with Rawze's and Mr Hagg's help... In Rawze's driveway... Not bad for my first in frame, iPhone and a bag of tools. ;-)

Everything I have heard is good on the X15. It is a CM-2350 with a few tweaks to compression and emissions. The fuel pump issue has been isolated. Just don't turn it up above say 500 or 550 hp and you should be good. I would get rid of the mandate immediately, or at least after 100,000 miles, and would upon purchase put an oil bypass filter on to keep the soot levels low. Just my .02
