What's the current tax fine for not carrying health insurance? If i was young and single id have to seriously consider if the penalty was cheaper than carrying a low grade plan.

But for anyone with children or looking to have children its a no brainer, even expensive health insurance is cheaper. A fact of life is school age kids are germ magnets. They get sick a lot. Especially during the school year. We went all summer with no illnesses or visits to the doctor. Since school started the 13th of August we have been to the dr with one of the kids 6 freaking times. The ten year old goes to school and brings the germs home and then the two year old gets the bug from his sister and spikes a fever. You cant play games with a fever and the very young. While you and i as grown men could suck it up, it can kill them. So the only option is to go to the dr and pay big bucks just to be given a prescription for baby Tylenol. Yes it's stupid that you have to have a prescription to get your 2 year old a Tylenol, but it's the way it is.

 

I think $200 or $400??

I could go on and on about insurance. I bought the top of the line insurance for everyone when I had my shop, think one guy used it for his wife and kid in 5 years.

I had insurance when I was younger for the kid, but she does her thing now and gets insurance for her and the grandkids from the teachers union.

Christ only knows what the X's do, and I shutter to think.

 

Is that it? I read it was in the thousands per year when Obamacare first became law. But i didn't look to deep into it, cause I've had children (or expecting one real soon) since i was 17, so family health insurance has pretty much been mandatory my entire adult life.

Similar situation for me. Load doesn’t deliver till the 4th in SLC. I’m in Vegas to grab it. Torn between going and watching the lot lizard races in North LV, or trying to convince the Valet to park my truck (and keep it close) while I destroy the buffet at the Bellagio.
