Holy ####,! That’s a heavy beast.. Is that tractor AND trailer, or just the tractor?? Either way it’s heavy, but if it’s just the tractor, good god, it weighs twice as much as mine, and it’s a bit on the porky side.LOL

I think about it like I think of every other media topic. It's published because something had to fill that time/space & it has no other significance. Journalism is about making something insignificant, but known, seem like it's important enough you must know it know. You'll actually know more by consuming less media.

And how long will it park at the fuel island?SingingWolf and DougA Thank this.

Well, with the right imaging software to identify pavement (Good) and grass (Bad) it should not be too difficult to learn a computer to stay on pavement.
There is actually a law that says if you are a pavement user without lines, you have to give half to the oncoming vehicle.
God I hope it's a motorcycle. Im greedy I want all of it.SingingWolf Thanks this. -
I live out here in the Bay Area. Soon to be leaving. I’ve delivered to the Tesla factory in Fremont and have to put up with thousands of Tesla drivers everyday up here. I watch them closely.
A lot of people behind the wheel have their laptop out or are reading a newspaper etc while the car travels. I’ve seen the cars make drastic lane switches and jerky movements-I’m guessing while on auto pilot.
There is a spot on 101 at the 85 in Mountain View that has faded lines in the road. There have been several bad accidents including a fatality in the spot-all Tesla’s. They did an investigation test in a Tesla and bc of the faded lines, the car didn’t know how to react and cut several lanes into the wall. I don’t see how these trucks marketed can respond to the situations that big trucks encounter daily.
I’ve got about 30+ years left in my career, I’m looking into LTL linehaul now. I really hope they don’t get introduced bc my gig would be one of the first to go being that it’s just terminal to terminal.Rollr4872 Thanks this. -
I’ve said for a long time that ever present construction zones and paving projects alone will doom all hopes of autonomous operation being viable in any application that involves long distances and/or disparate routes. And lots of incidents will occur where the human co driver is simply not going to regain control in time.SingingWolf, Rollr4872 and Air Cooled Thank this.

The tractor.

If they would just make a phone app that shows the car driver whats in front of the car on the smartphone they are staring at maybe we could reduce crashes.SingingWolf Thanks this.

In the future fuel pumps will be full service like they used to be. No waste of on duty fueling.
In the future truck engines will be hybrid like a train. But the railroad would loose a lot of freight if that were made right now.
