Lane.
your first 3 days are very fast paced. you will have a tall guy named James as your main classroom instructor. Pay attention to what he tells you and you can nail the CDL written test the first time through. Usually the 3rd day you will do a recap of all you've learned the last 2 days and then go take your test.
After you take your test you will begin learning to "Drive" on the green mile, and you will also be given the 108 point pretrip inspection (LEARN IT EARLY). As long as you do what you're told and don't try to be smart with them you can get great help from everyone. Also if you can try to get with Marvin, he's a short stocky black guy who will teach you how to drive it smooth as he says "treat it like it's a woman gentle and smooth"
Also justa heads up the greenmile trucks and backing trucks heat don't work very well, so you might want to pack some extra warm clothes for the cold mornings. Make sure that anytime you use the kitchen area you clean up after yourself, they WILL revoke people's van usage to go to walmart if the area is not kept clean. Last thing, when you get there tell Buddy that " The Professor" says hi and isn't taking hard turns in 7th gear lol.Lilbit Thanks this. -
Hey Wolf,
Does FFE hire recent graduates from other academies? I'm in a private trucking school - not a fleet trucking school (Ie England, or other) do you know?
- Jason -
I can't honestly tell you for sure Jason, the best advice I can give you is to call and ask. I went through on FFE's $ and so far they have been good to me. I believe in "riding for the brand" as my grandpa used to call it. I will suggest though if you want to work for FFE/American Eagle you start out with FFE. This way you have the reefer experience. Some of the American Eagle drivers lately have been unhappy as they have had to hook their birds up to the fridge lol.

LOL!! I sure thank you for the info lone! I'll have to make a phone call.
I start my BEHiND THE WHEEL experience tomorow - I'm STOKED. The last time I've been behind the wheel I was sitting in my front yard of my stepdads truck ALONG time ago.
I used to play in that truck for HOUUUUUUURS.
The wheels were always chocked w/ no keys, but, i was ALWAYS warned, the minute i touched the yellow or red button play time was over; for good.
NOW I can touch the buttons!!!!!!! LOL -
haha
"you see that button"
"yea" *reaching for the botton*
"Never! Touch that Button"
Seriously yall if you have a question concerning PineBluff or FFE then private message me, if you can't then you might ask one of the mods to put you in touch with me. I primarily hang around down on the last post thread. -
I was talking to Sherri, one of the recruiters, about coming from Katlaw in Austell GA and she said that was fine. I ended up going with Conway instead. So they do accept other schools, you just have to find out if yours is one of them.
Good Luck and have fun! -
Thanks alot Wolf, I'm gonna see if the mods will let me get in touch with you if not i'll figure out something. I got a few more questions for you.

Can anyone tell me how strict FFE is on how many jobs in the past ten years. I ask cause I have had a few due to not checking around before jumping and I am breaking that habit now! Thats all I worry about I have a clean criminal and no accidents and only 1 ticket in ten years being 2007. We are looking at Pine Bluff going under FFE ...Thanks
-
I don't know for sure how strict they are I know that right now with the economy being the way it is they are being alot more picky with who they hire. Me personally I know that it was almost a problem that I had 5 jobs listed instead of 4. I was ok though since the only reason I changed any of the jobs was because I moved. Alot of it depends on your recruiter too, I had a great one who really worked with me.
