This sending driver out with trainer is just redundant. The person passed has their license it sure has heck is not rocket science finding your way from point A to point B
I dont know of any company up here that pulls that nonsense. Maybe a day trip with trainer for hauling logs or fuel.

Crete has decent training pay and the cpm for newbies isn't that bad. Plus the trainer will not run you like a team. They will actually teach you how to drive so you won't look like a moron when you start alone.

Will Crete put you through CDL training, or do you have to put yourself through CDL school prior to driving for Crete?

I saw a guy who was with his trainer at May Trucking for only nine days before they cut him loose to run solo, Ha! But May doesn’t have their own school per se.

I don’t know why anyone chooses England when there are much better options. Between the grueling trainer time - with trainers who are rookies no less, the CDL mill atmosphere (so I hear) to the pathetic cpm, C.R. England must be the sweatshop of mega carrier trucking.

Are there any other companies besides May trucking that you would suggest?

Well, I can tell you what companies I’m leaning towards at this time, TMC and System Transport, both dedicated flatbed operations. As for dry van, I’ve considered Ozark Motor Lines out Memphis TN. which looks good to me for a new driver.

As far as school goes, I’d highly recommend a community college program. They’re good quality, and if you’re considering company school, you’re probably eligible for FASFA and other grants to attend. Perhaps best of all, with a college, you’re not beholden to a company for putting you through their school.

Right off the top of my head, if you’re a Georgia resident there is also the Hope Grant to consider/look into.

You have to score high in certain approved schools to get into Crete as a new driver. I made sure my school fit the bill before I applied to it and called Crete to verify. They were my first choice when I came back to trucking in 2008.

I went through my community college ( paid through unemployment). It was the same price as another driving school that I went through years earlier. The difference being the college was a 6 week course and the other 2 weeks. They just push you through to make the money. The school actually cared if you were competent behind the wheel. NCC you guys ROCK!
