I pull tanks. I was given a new truck with an automatic not long ago. It didn't take long to get used to. I would never want to go back to shifting.

    Paccar.... yuck... :biggrin_25512:
I’ve had the pleasure of driving a Kenworth/paccar at 5mph de-rated across town to the dealer. :biggrin_25520:

Same here. My last truck was an 18 speed but for some reason I really dig a good 13.

That has nothing to do with Paccar or KW. It’s how the owner wanted it set. Can easily be re-programmed by a dealer. Any engine can be de-rated these days, on any brand of truck.

A derate is also caused by a fault or other condition that causes the engine to go into derate. It's a detune that is to protect the engine from damage. When I drove dump truck I had a truck derate over a failed serpentine belt, had to get out of traffic and shut it down.....it would have overheated, had to shut it down anyways. That truck had a Cummings

Where I am about to load there is an uphill combined with a left turn. If I have to stop at the end of the street before the left, I will have to hang in 3rd until the next stop sign. If I could split, I could pull the next hole. But I can't with 13 speed.

Nice truck! Did it come with the grille guard or was it installed as an aftermarket upgrade?

Treadwell farm is about a mile down the road from my place. I'm on Wallace rd. before it turns to Peoria. Bruce bought my granddad's business from grandad's partner back around 2001. He's really grown it into quite a large operation. When I was a kid Bruce and his Dad had an old blue International and picked up the milk from my cousins grandparents farm in Alexander.
