for thr thread sake im not really talking about oilfield work.
I mean like there was a very guud dedicated lane with great pay but it was only available in another city /state so you told the recruiter that you'll move for it.
Sn: any good dedicated routes out of Dallas that would have me home regular or atleast weekends off at home
Have you ever moved to a different city to get a better trucking job?

Here's the rub … unless it's gig with an LTL or a local company, a lot of dedicated gigs are contracts. Contracts expire.
So you move to get on a great local dedicated gig … 1, 2 or 3 years down the line contract expires and isn't renewed with the company you're with … you're out of job or maybe get an offer from the new company, but lose all your vesting, maybe cut in pay and the way they run their operation makes that sweet gig not so sweet anymore.DAX_ Thanks this. -
nope...i aint about to leave my home for a job anyplace..but then, i live in a very high traffic area as it is now.
but there may be "some people" that in order to get a job...PERIOD, they have to move away.DAX_ Thanks this. -

Yeah, but I don't have anything tying me down someplace.

there is ALWAYS something, someone, tying you down, or a part of your life. be it your favorite barbershop and the guys that you talk to there, your favorite diner, your friends, etc, etc.
no one is a complete ghost or orphan.DAX_ Thanks this. -
I've done it twice.
First time it was a 250 mile move to a neighboring state.
Second time 10 years later was 440 miles to the south end of the state.
Gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes.
