First let me say something here. I do not know this OP. I have nothing against the OP. However why is he on probation? Most everybody that spends much time on these boards know that a bad comment on DAC generally don't cause problems later. Being fired for busting a tire seems a bit excessive to me even on probation. Think of this in regard to people that come in here asking who will hire me questions and report 4 or 5 accidents in 6 months and not let go till that last time. Yes the OP is free to buy a new tire and to even get the tires switched around. However that tire has a damaged side wall and is 100% illegal to use and WILL get that truck put out of service once found ANYWHERE it is. Also be aware of something that carriers maintenance shops sometimes do. They have branded tires on some Tractors/Trailers and others on others. Some have a particular type of thread on them as well. These things can be seen later of a careful observation is made. I think the best advice here is to call the carrier and have them send out a service truck. get the dang tire legal and go back to work. If you get fired for cutting a plug out of a tire in my view your better off. I can almost guarantee you that between @Chinatown and myself we can get you at least an interview within a week. One more thing PLEASE stop worrying over that dang DAC! Now with all this said I don't know what the probation is for. Without knowing all the facts it is a bit difficult to say what to expect. My instincts say report it!

That’s the best advice. Either way the tires shot . I was just thinking though why not just let air out of tire at TS and take it to the shop. Everyone’s interest is covered including the innocent.Good point on tires I worked for a company once that owns a Bandag co. Had company name right on tire!!! Central Transport

You know something is missing from all of this, I think maturity.

this is an every day thing,

With my fleet, I pay for tires being repaired and replaced EVERY DAY. And believe me I am not going to get bent over a tire getting trashed by crap on the road.

This is normal, and the company will deal with paying for it, it is not likely that it is caused by you so tell them about it and get it replaced.

But if you are inclined to do the chicken ****** thing, hide the damage, then realize that if you get into an accident and someone gets hurt or killed, your career is over with. I can almost guarantee that and the cost will bankrupt you.

Driver you can replace the wheel yourself, but don’t be surprised when they tell you the price.
If you replace any equipment, get the bill and keep it for your records. At the end of the year claim it on your taxable return as equipment bought for the truck.

Did it blow Yet? Keep running until it does. Or curb it until it does. Than when it blows run it for a few miles till it falls apart, bring to tire shop. Problem fixed.
    Unless it's a super single.

Dont be so dramatic martha. #### how many tires have a had blow out nothing ever happens and it wouldnt be my fault sinxe if it affects someone they were following too closely. Its on the right side so i just wont be passing people and the way the trailer is made will keep the tire from blowing backwards it can only go out the side not a van trailer a flatbed

Mr Ridgeline wasn’t talking about only this tire. He was referring to your attitude. Not just this thread, your others. Same attitude. You should thank him. I know you won’t, so I thanked him for you.

    Six back quiet.

But not every company will pay for it or fix it without repercussions and that is the dilemma for the driver.
