Or the "But I love my {pet type}" Um, if you are putting them in a condition of living in a truck, how much do you really love them? No, you simply want their companionship at any cost to the well being of the animal.

Rather have a Cummins, myself.......
EZ Money Thanks this. -
I absolutely love kitty cats, but would not take one on the road. It would be a nightmare. What about the litter box?? My big kitty stays with his gramma full time.

I've known a dozen cat owners. If your house or truck smells bad its because the owner is a filthy animal. Change the litter box frequently.flood Thanks this.

I'm saying because you're in a trk with limited space its not going to take long before the litter box starts to smell compared to a house.BlackThought Thanks this.

I have a cat in my truck and it's been great. I got him a year ago as a 2 month old kitten, so the truck is all he's ever known. He adjusted really quickly to the motion and sounds and I got him neutered, immunized and microchipped, of course. When my truck is in the shop I leave him inside the truck and he lays on the top bunk watching the mechanics. He never tries to get out, even when the windows or doors are open because the truck is home and safety to him. Outside is scary.
Whenever I stay in a hotel I take him with me using a soft, collapsible pet carrier I got at walmart. He loves exploring hotel rooms, especially the ones with big windowsills.
For a litter box, I use a deep dish washing pan I also found at walmart. I keep it behind the passenger seat. I removed the rubber skirting from around the seat so it would fit. Also, I got him used to wearing a harness with a leash when he was really young and he loves to explore the outdoors at rest areas.
To sum it up, I am so glad I finally decided to get a kitten in the truck with me. It's amazing how a tiny animal has made me feel so not alone out here on the road.Last edited: Sep 8, 2018

We kept a covered litter box with a goodly supply of charcoal treated filter for up top to halt the fumes of urine and so on. We cleaned it quite often as well with quality litter. Emphasis on often. Other than that we were moderately successful, however one cat turned into a sort of a mental problem once home in the peace and quiet. It did not do well. If it was not sunning on the dash at 70 it was not having it. I think it was for a cat the ultimate in any season.
You do work on keeping laundry clean. It had a habit of going deep into the bunk just so as a sort of a castle. And if you have anything up high in the condo cab it's going to find a way up there. So you might have cat on the back of your captians chair with claws working on getting up there. Do not get a cat without claws. On bad road it will use them to lock in place. Hopefully not you.
