And on the bright side when he replaces the oil pan you are going to get a free oil change...
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Yes he's liable for that. His shop, his responsibilities

Did he crush the oil pan, put a hole in it or just a small dent? Whatever the case, you do relise you might not have a trusting shop that will wait 30 days for their money when done. Your fixing to find out how trust worth dependable and fair he is.

Unless he dumps the old oil back in....Hulld Thanks this.

Now your going to know just how good your mechanic is huh? By rights he should have insurance to cover any such incidents and by human decency he will offer to pay for any damages i do hope you get reimbursed if he's cash strapped perhaps you could work out a payment plan or he could just do a trade off with you with some free mechanical repairs in the future.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

I would imagine the venting of the oil pan during the original event negated any possibility of that happening.
I also would imagine that the jack stand that vented the oil pan is now thoroughly lubricated with little chance of sticking or rusting for a while...Tug Toy Thanks this. -
OP never said it had a hole in it though. Although its quite likely it does.Hulld Thanks this.
