I'm not sure which forum I would ask this but I find it relatable with the site because of OTR drivers but does anybody on here live in Tacoma or are at least familiar with it? I'm only asking because I was curious to know if there are many mountains surrounding that city?? I may move out there in a year and just planning things to my liking. Also I have checked google maps but I'm not sure how far the mountains are I'm seeing compared to actually being down there.

Around Tacoma its self no. To the east and west yes. If you say on the 5 corridor you wont have to worry about chaining but if you run east you'll have to chain up over Snoqualmie pass or in the gorge on I-84. No mountain passes to the west of Tacoma.

Well like I said if I end up moving there, I'm 26 yrs old and like going out and being active so I was wondering if I should just save my money on guns, four wheelers and all that if I'm not near any mountains to play in

It's expensive out there. Very expensive. Beautiful parts of the state are just a few hours away in most any direction, with all sorts of outdoor activities, year around.. Great bloody mary's can be found down by Pikes Place Market, and some decent brews and wines made there in Washington. That's important to me, anyway.

King and Pearce counties are the most expensive. I'd be looking at Thurstin or Snohomish counties if you want cheaper living or jet across the narrows to Grays Harbor county.

Research "The aroma of Tacoma" before you pull the trigger. :)
