Anybody Familiar with Tacoma?

    Rent / real estate is crazy expensive here too. Expect $1500/mo for an apartment and $250k for a house in a modest Tacoma neighborhood. There is no income tax, but sales tax can be 10% and that 250k house will pay $200/mo in property tax.

    Some utilities are cheap (power, because of the dams) but some aren't (sewer, garbage). Be sure you check out the full costs of living first.

    Lots of outdoor activities of all kinds. Lots of traffic, too.

    The Stadium district and most of Old Town are pretty much like Seattle politically, Out in the Spanaway/Graham areas are more neutral than Seattle.

    As far as the costs, I can't compare necessarily, but it sure seems awfully expensive for an area with multiple refineries in the Port of Tacoma!
