Squats done with proper form will help strengthen your back and knees. Deadlifts also. Biggest thing is to stretch before and after. My bud who broke his back last year is back to working out with me. It took a ton of rehab but its like the accident never happened

I powerlifted also AFTER strengthening my back. I am warning people against using those type belts for driving and sitting around. The belt will weaken already weak areas.

I'm no fitness guru but compound excercises like squats and deadlifts definitely seem to help with posture. I find I tend to sit and walk with a straighter spine and have much less back aches and pain. I also don't put on the miles a lot of you folks do. 200km is an average day for me.

515 bench and 620 dead lift. Couldn’t squat more than 405 because I had bad knees. I was normally between 210-220 lbs.

I always have 2 spotters whenever I max. Its called raw. No belts no straps and no fancy "benching shirts" its not ego related at all dude.

I was in the 148 weight class. I'm only 5'6-5'7. Holy #### six those are some good numbers. I was 255 bench 405 dead and 325 squat.

    (Threadjacked, but what the heck?)

My weak point in the upper body was my shoulders. Try this if you want to blow your previous best out the water. I load 405lbs on a seated military press. Have your spotters hand it off to you, bend your elbows slightly and try to hold it for 30 seconds. Do this once a week on your shoulder day (don’t do shoulders with chest if shoulders are your weak point). Eventually, you will be able to hold it. And eventually too, you will be able to press it back up and lock it out. If you get to the point where you can move 405 lbs overhead, imagine what happens to the bench press...
