ok been a few weeks & gonna get some home time this next week. My miles I have gotten the last four weeks not bad. 3058 miles then 2467 miles (recall on truck). 3254 miles & this last week 3618 miles. No complaints so far. Only thing I do not like is waiting for the meat loads I am a hyper person & cannot stand sitting around. Been running mostly Texas to PA & carolinas & back to Texas fuel is cheaper there then the east coast. I hope going home to Michigan will not mess up this running south I like it so far.

GPS is fine, but you can use google maps, find the shortest route, miles or fastest way, compare it to your atlas(i.e. low bridges, restricted routes) then go from there. The person i work for has his wife at home go over the routes and fuel stops for us, then we just let her know if we can run a route or not. With her help, we have the best out of route miles percent with the company we are leased on at, 7%. The average for the rest of the company is 16%. There are lots of ways, but you have to learn the old fashion way first, just grab an atlas.

Ok I just completed my 6 month lease & now will sign on for more. I am gonna do a 4 yr lease but truck will not be in until aug. 7 at least. I am happy so far the last two weeks I rocked with 3500 miles & 3800 miles. No real complaints so far & I think my fleet manager is awesome.

What he said. I have a Garmin 200W and a Tom Tom. The new Garmin 465T is out at some of the truckstops. It's geared for truckers, look it up on google. Garmin is easiest to use and upgrade. They own the aviation, military, marine world and I'm sure the auto world too.

Good luck! I'm fairly new myself (7 mo) and I like it. Like any job, there is good and bad to deal with. It takes time for the money to come, but the places you see and the freedom from four walls makes it worth it.
