I'm company driver, cost me a lot of sweat as I was sitting on the shoulder about 4.5 hrs in 94F to get the truck temporarily fixed
I had Michelin on my steers but a few weeks before the blowout I had a leak in one tire and as I was back on the yard, they decided to put two used Yokohamas from another truck on my steers. The truck will be sold soon and they didn't want to put two new Michelins on.
Wrong decision, the blowout cost them a few thousand $$$.

Thats all we use. Like everybody else we tried just about every tire there is over the years.
The initial cost is high but on a cost per mile basis the Michelins are the best deal we've found.
Cheap tires get expensive quick when they cost you a load...or worse.

I had a steer blowout in Wyoming in a construction zone close to fort bridger. I had just checked out the tires about 30 minutes beforehand, so I must have ran over a nail or something. After it blew out i put on my flashers and slowed down very slowly and while I was doing that, the tire peeled off the rim and went into the weeds and I was completely on the rim. Luckily the rim didnt crack or shatter and I made it off the road and nothing else screwy happened.

To the one poster, there is no hard wrong or hard right.

God help you if you run into a situation for which you are fixing to get a pen and write your own solution to the situation as it develops and the last grain of sands run out.

Im fat dumb and happy rolling 81 past strasburg VA and was number one of three. Pretty day and all that.

BOOOOOOM and my lying eyes saw a entire tread and a good part of a heavy truck tire unwrap straighten up and fly oh... 150 feet up into the air. We are all doing 80. Middle truck started staggering wanting to roll his seacan was over 100K.

I measured the flying tread now beginning to coil in the airflow towards a minivan fat dumb and happy with a whole bunch of little kids in the back. I threw my own container into the #### thing behind the miniivan which started swerving all over scared white. The container smashed the deadweight and slammed it into the median and #### near rolled over on top of it. I sweated bullets with one set on the pavement and that ##### sliding this way into the V median with a blessed ditch drain pipe coming.

The next few moments I have no memory of. But other drivers came to tell me I am awesome. Oh huh? Wha? Ok fine did anyone get hit? no no no.. you did awesome.

That rubber took 8 months to wear off. Number two was ok. He contributed some rubber of his own. Number three had no place to go. So he dumped his air and stopped dead. which ruined the entire highway southbound. No one hit anyone.

In battle like that, you don't get to decide if you live, die or get smashed up. It's going to come out one or all of that or some. Enjoy the ride chum, it's all over soon.
