Knock College all you want..you should!
I spent countless 1000"s sending my daughter to the best college for her chosen career path. It took her 2 years to find a job, paying approx 35K. At dinner to celebrate her new job, she informed that just about everything she was taught in college was "obsolete" and not needed in her work.Fast forward now 4 years, and she is at 43k.
I decided to come back out on the road in 2016, after 9/10 year exodus.... so other than knowing how being OTR worked and backing and the such.... I was new, considered NO experience. I called around or stopped in to companies near home. I had 5 offers before I'd even went back to get my CDL... I'd let the CDL lapse.
Now I'm coming on 22 months new experience, and I should make approx 20k more than my daughter going on 5 years at her employer..... and my company paid me back for my CDL training. Yep...I'm still paying on student loans, cuz I wanted my daughter to have the edumakation her dad never had

You have a full expenses paid tuition for college if you are below the poverty line. When I used to live in california they would give a lot of benefits to very low income.
