You won't have to go over-the-road, unless you want the experience. Some of us like OTR and don't want to stay in one place long enough for moss to grow on us. I never got tired of over-the-road, but that's me and not for everyone.
Many new cdl grads find great jobs by applying for places they may think won't hire them.
I'll check through my notes for something local in your area; food service is the best pay though.

 

Lily Transportation seems like a good outfit. The website has "1 yr. experience preferred", but don't let that stop you. I encouraged a couple of new grads on here to apply there anyway, and they were hired.
Even if they offer you an OTR position, it might be worth accepting, then in six months ask for a local position.

This is EVENING/NIGHT shift position will be scheduled to 4 days per week for 10 to 12 hours per shift. The schedule will include three week days and one weekend day. The hourly rate is $19 to $21 per hour based on fuel delivery experiences with increases after 90 days and 6 months. Time and a half will be offered after 40 hours plus an incentive to earn an extra $50/day.
