You obviously have never driven behind Da Cat. :banghead:

Seriously...Many don’t want to work physically. So they bad mouth McLane. Count your blessings. I’d jump at your job if I could. Remember what a great coach said: Use it or lose it. Your body will adapt to whatever you subject it to.

    Where are you located?

I'm in school and Mclane is one of the companies I'm interested in.

That makes sense, I never looked at it like that. Where I live there are jso many different companies, I didn’t know much of the difference between all of them. Only by what I read from these forums. Thanks for the advice!

I’m in Montgomery, NY. I did driving school back in 2012 as a bucketlist thing. I never thought I’d want to make a career out of it. Now I realize it’s the best thing I can get into. My problem was finding a place to retrain me. I applied for McLane they called me the next day and schedule an interview that went really well, I passed the roadtest (the truck was automatic) if it wasn’t for that I would’ve been screwed. When I got home they sent me the rest of the info and a conditional offer. My vibe so far is that they really need drivers. So by reading the reviews and going to the interview I don’t think it should be very hard to get hired. The physical labor thing never bothered me, I can’t sit still for 5 minutes as it is.

Truck driving is an unskilled job. For that reason we are treated like trash. And paid accordingly as such.

Yes they did, and there’s no real difference between a trainee and a driver as far as the pay is concerened. I will be making as much as the others drivers from day 1. Training they said will depend on me, anywhere from 4-8 weeks.

    Radman and localguy65 Thank this.

IMO...you're overthinking this too much. You're looking way too far ahead and not realizing what's in front of you...A GREAT OPPORTUNITY.

Like the great Bruce Lee once said..."It's like a finger pointing to the moon. Don't concentrate on the finger, or you will miss all that heavenly beauty."
