Yeah, there’s about 20 different companies within a 15 mile radius. They are everywhere. My area had literally all of the main companies, probably because it’s right near an international airport.

Will do, they said I should hear something by the end of the week, I have to go out near Syracuse for a week of orientation, they pay for the whole thing.

Better confirm that if it's a motel.

Yeah, they were pretty clear about it, they pay for the hotel, .59 cents per mile for travel in my personal vehicle to and from the hotel, and I believe one meal a day they said.

That too will go away once the freighting stops flying to and from airports unless you are near a major hub like Louisville or Memphis. Some times about now they are the busiest real estate with heavy jets coming and going on all 4 runways here in Memphis with more stacked waiting their turn.

I hate to be difficult. I grew up surrounded by big time industry and looked forward to a life making 30 a hour until I retired by 45.

That industry vanished by the time I hit 25. Sparrows Point pretty much quit and got into the Condo Business these last few years. Aint no money in condos unless you are delivering food in a reefer or medicines.

That is our niche. Medicines with McKesson of Memphis. It pretty much disposes of all the BS and troubles that are a problem in this industry.

Sounds like a good start to me. Get your experience and stay there. Gonna be making the big bucks soon once u start getting seniority.

Alot of companies are going automatics except Old Dominion. All our trucks are 10 speeds and that includes the roadtest loaded.

If you ever leave Mclane just dont ever apply to OD plenty of other good companies with only autos your good

My company has some automatic but the fleet is still more then 50% 13/18 speed manuals. Many milk haulers don't buy any automatics.
