Has a company ever gotten too big???

Well, Schnieder National Has!!! I left a good paying job, which had a dying future and signed on to work for Schnieder National. The CDL training was good, but after that...things went bad.
In my five months I run for them:
I have only averaged out 1525 miles a week.

Your quarenteed to sit at least two days a week, and I mean weekdays. Not those vacation weekends down Laredo, TX

I have sat 20 hours in Dalton. GA, only to dispatch me to Clarksville, TN and sit another 14. this was to break up any layover pay.

I have driven 175 miles to pick up a load, only to have it given off to a team drivers at the last second.

I been given a 300 mile run and told to deliver it 4 days later !!!

Hey, I know the economy is bad,, but why are they still advertising to hire vet drivers...when they shut all thier training centers down and are looking at cuttting drivers for what ever reason they can find!!

    NEVER DRIVE A PUMPKIN AGAIN!!!

Sorry to hear, my husband has had some bad weeks out there, and about 7 days of sitting the last 30 but they paid him layover 100.00 every time he sat 24 hours. =/

    Last week he ran abysmal miles (1400), but this week he's ran nearly 2800 and has another load. Everything is slow right now, its not just Schneider. You quit with less then 1 year exp you will have a hard time finding a job right now, and if you do find one, you will find out quickly what I said about stuff being slow is very spot on =);

This is what we try to tell wannabes that sign in at the Welcome Wagon . But they don't listen . They think they are different than the thousands of others that ended up shafted like you or worse . "I have a good attitude " "Any job is better than no job " " People need stuff . Trucks move stuff . There will always be trucking jobs " Then they find out .
So you took Schneider training and might have to put up with it for a year . I wish you luck .

The trip planners are having a hard time right now because of the slow freight and the customers schedules. I have been leased to them since Sept '08 and the load boards are slim pickings. Here lately I have had to start picking loads a week out compared to 2-3 days when I started. Communication is a big issue. It seems to be one sided at Schneider (you tell them what they want, but they don't listen). Even on the Choice program I have issues with this problem. I wish you luck, but I doubt you will get hired anywhere else right now with your experience and low freight levels.

you can try gunville we need drivers. the pay is low but they make it up with miles. they expect hard work.
I have had one bad week since coming back i had 1800 miles, left on sunday at noon Home on tuesday at 4pm. the dispatcher called said they couldn't find loads worth taking, he said dh from chicago home.
They won't leave you sitting to long they have front hual loads of paper out of quinnessec and escanaba mi paper mills that need to move and pay well enough to come back mt if needed, most of our loads are 500 miles or less.
then back huals are usually reinhart foods in shawano or marquette mi and supervalue in GB.
The trucks are old, but well maintained. My first truck had 1.4 million miles on it but it was solid and did 74 mph. They do have some 05 volvos but you wont see those unless you can make 3800 miles consistently or stay with them for a few years.

My total "sit" time this week --- 3 hours at $12 an hour. Because somebody forgot to preload my trailer.

I think I'm gonna like my new job :D
