Good afternoon truckers. I’m considering buying a W900 with. A c15 acert engine. I was wondering how can I tell if the engine is good or bad?

Oil sample, Dyno, Inspection from a good CAT shop. What year and how many miles?
-
2007 920,000 on dash and around 600,000 on rebuilt
-
As long as its not an SDP prefix.
Oxbow and Moephilly1 Thank this. -
If it is an Acert they will be turbo issues.
Being twin compound turbos are bound to fail early. To much heat build up.Moephilly1 and KB3MMX Thank this. -
With your numbers it was rebuilt are 320000 what's up with that

Oxbow and Moephilly1 Thank this.

Miles don't count for anything when talking about engines IMO. I go by hours just because most times you don't really know what the truck did all its life. If it only ever hauled locally it will be houred out long before its miled out.

Oxbow Thanks this.
