LOL. You're either a dog owner(you're the boss) or a doggie slave( you're not the boss). If you think of them as children , you're the latter.

 

Dog owner here of a Lab Am Staff mix. Sweet as pie. Not a mean bone in her body. It’s all in how they’re raised and no one will ever convince me of anything different.

 

Every owner a of a dog who has attacked someone says the same thing. I saw the owner of 2 "pit bulls" who mauled a lady on the news. Sobbing as to how sweet and loveable they were. Translation.... Oh ####, I'm gonna lose everything I own.

 

If breed means nothing, why were they created in the first place? Terriers were bred to be aggressive with a strong predatory instinct. Make them big and strong as well and they maul. Really pretty simple. Little terriers are ankle biters, big terriers are kid killers...

 

That's correct. Genetic behavior is in every breed. Shepherds that were not aggressive in driving off predators,i.e. wolves and other canines, were eliminated from the breeding stock. Thus making successive generations more and more aggressive. Same with guard dogs,fighting dogs ,and others. They don't need to be trained to be aggressive.

 

I'd most likely be on trial and doing a little time if that were one of my family.

 

The bottom line is that if you have a Pitt bull Am Staff, Bully or any other euphemism for Pitt bull dog in your home, you have a potential time bomb. Not every one of these individuals will be nasty or dangerous, but the inherent traits are there. There is simply no way to predict if the seemingly sane pitt of this morning is going to be one who snaps 2 years or 6 years from now.

These breeds were developed specifically for the aggression and persistent attack. They are genetically coded - the Presa Canario especially.

We have 7 dogs in our home now and they vary on size and breed including 2 total Heinz 57 mutts. I know every minute where every single one of them is and what they are doing. None of my dogs are pitts or crosses thereof because I won't have a dog I can't trust. The genetic breed behaviors means that certain breeds can never be be fully trusted.
