There’s no driver shortage. Companies simply refuse to pay a decent wage for doing this job.
driverdriver and pmdriver Thank this. -
We are short on drivers at my terminal for a few reasons:
in the last 12 months
3 O/O moved down south, no more winters lower cost of living.
3 company drivers quit for local driving jobs. One of these was a new hire that lasted exactly 1 year OTR, got his experience and quit.
In the next year - two years
1 O/O is retiring
3-5 company drivers are retiring (3 for sure, 2 questionable).
1 company driver is quitting and moving south.
so thats going to be 11 to 13 drivers gone in a 2 year period and we might get 1-2 new hires (that stick around longer than a year) to replace them.
*Superior Carriers, pay is p.good, benefits are also decent. O/O rates here are generally higher than other terminals. Very friendly people here as well. -
Oh how fun it is to harass folks.

Harass? LOL, you have an awfully high opinion of yourself. It's a lot more entertaining laughing at know it all a-holes. Now run along and troll someplace else.

Not all , there are some really good paying jobs out there.
