The only way I'd take a lumber load was if I was stuck in Oregon and needed gas money for the trip home, and I don't expect that to ever happen. Lumber loads are notoriously cheap, and heavy.Lepton1 Thanks this.
-
I got lucky on my first two lumber loads. Lucky is slightly sarcastic. 1st load 117 miles $610. 2nd load 167 miles $800. Almost a round trip with about 120 deadhead miles from when I left the house to When I got back home.
I see a lot of 1-1.30 a mile lumber loads around here. Then add east coast tolls. If I happen to pull one of these loads I will feel like mother Theresa. -
I hope the euphoria is still going a year from now.
I'll sell my truck for twice what I owe and go back to switching trailers for $18/hr until they all go bankrupt.
It's like penny stocks.
When it's going up, and everyone wants to buy, that's about the time you wanna sell.
Luckily I live very cheaply and can afford to keep making truck payments.
I bet a lot of these guys are spending their money on fancy toys and stuff instead of saving for a rainy day.
What are they gonna do when suddenly they're running for $1.65 a loaded mile away when they been getting $2.15?
I remember first 4 months of last year I was avg $1.65/loaded mile. And working hard.
I think the easing of the personal conveyance rules opened up capacity a bit. I been hearing stories about people getting ticketed for improper use of PC. So I'm sure people are using and abusing it to skirt the elog and HOS.
And companies out there telling their drivers to improperly use PC. I think that was a mistake and HOS needs to be enforced even further with stiffer penalties. People shooting themselves in the foot. Race to the bottom.loudtom, JonJon78 and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Or like bit coin by the time the masses were hearing of the riches and jumping in, they caught the downside and many I’m sure lost their rears.
Or like the green rush in Colorado years back. Bet things are much tougher after everyone rushed there after seeing the media glorify the riches.BoyWander Thanks this. -
We have DAT and Truckstop.com
-
Download Convoy, Uber Freight, Coyote, CH Robinson, JB Hunt, TQL, TruckLoads, they're all free apps to your smartphone and start use them, and of course buy at least one load board like DAT loads monthly membership.
And you'll have more opportunities to book your loads, but when you put your bid on those loads, stay high on your rates, like $3 or $4 per mile and you'll get a chance to win high payable loads.Lepton1, 20 Mule Team, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
Has anyone with a flatbed booked a load on convoy. I can never find a load for a flat anywhere on there app.
HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
thanks! We pay for DAT and truckstop.com and have access to Landstar. I will suggest it to the fleet owner.

Been slow for me as well. My revenue is way down. Alot of brokers booking loads day before. That way they can bottom fish and the solar powered trucks take them. This drives down rates and when your empty there isnt any quality loads left on the board. Somedays i wanna pull a load but im on a customer that 1 day your Empty in an HR next day its 4Hrs. Last week im in Joplin with a reefer lane to Iowa pays 1450. Brokers only wanted to pay 800.00 his reply was nothing in surrounding area pays decent whatelse you gonna do. I told him sit or DH not pulln your cheap load. He hung up mind you he called me . Prime same way they cut the rate 35 40% because they have drivers in the area to pull it the next day. And people will take it unfortunatelyArcana Thanks this.
