Depends on state..
Looks like Calif requires 3 rail on front axle pulling doubles and rear outsides. According to the pics.

Says right in the first paragraph about WA that spares are required.
-
Yep.
Forgive me for forgetting.
-
You’re not allowed to forget!
And you know this year will be the year you get checked in WA too. Lolsnowwy Thanks this. -
Colorado was checking the last week of August, they simply verified you actually had chains. The minimum requirement is 4 singles in Colorado, enough for each outside drive tire. There is no requirement for spares or for a drag chain, that up to you the driver or your company. Personally I carry 6 singles, enough for my 4 outside drives and 2 spares. One thing to keep in mind, chains are not light, so the more you carry, the more extra weight you're dragging around.
Actually, a week ago I pulled all mine off my hanger (carry them year round), inspected for damage and rehung them, checked all my bungees and called it good to go. -
I’m a very visual person myself. Throw a bunch of information at me, I may get it, I may not. But throw a visual of some kind at me and everything becomes clear.

In Oregon its 4 on outer drives and 1 on each side of trailer, plus 2 extras.Need 8 on you.IluvCATS Thanks this.

OMG, enough with the spares already. Even CA doesn't mandate spares, it's just rediculous. Keep your 6 in good shape and roll.
-
4 chains for my drive and 2 super singles?
-
Sorry, but the facts can’t be ignored. Spares are mandatory in Washington state.
