Does Superior have local jobs where you are home most nights?
-
Yes in short they do have local positions that preload trailers and stage them on the yard for us road drivers and they also do local customer deliveries within 120 miles of the terminal.

Hey KY24, Thanks for info on other board. Going to call ATL. back on maonday and just keep my name in there ear. But till they get back up and moving I do need to find something. Do Any of you Have Info good or bad on the following companies. A&R Transport Or QC I talked to Qc and turned in my app he said he was going to check a few of the terminals and see if they needed drivers. There were 3 he was going to look at. The Atlants terminal, Spartanburg SC and I think One In greer SC. Think He told me they were affiliate companies. Going to call him back Monday also. But i like what I see with A&R and see them alot around here. Just looking for a move but 1st choice i have is with you guys but who knows I might find a home With one of the above. Any info any of you could give me on them will be very helpful. Thanks .....Im out

Question ?
do you have to be in bulk right away ? I know your current job sucks and u need to make a move, but if you can or want to go dry van you should look into KOCH, although getting your feet wet in the TANK industry will greatly improve your chances of getting in here once you are cleared for hire at a terminal.
Look into food grade also
TRANSPORT SERVICES
OPIES
INDIAN RIVER
OAKLEY
none of them match the SUPERIOR CARRIERS way of treating drivers etc but, it will get you going on the tank end of things if thats your intrest. A&R runs allot of PNEUMATIC trailers dont remember seeing any tanks with A&R but I could be wrong
PNEUMATIC is a different world and they usually pay off percentage , jst from what I have heard I dont know that for sure..
Stay in there if Superior is your goal when a position opens up then I would go tank to get some experience under you on the TANKER YANKER side of things which will help you greatly.
I just dont know about that percentage stuff I think I would steer clear especially since freight rates are on the drop and GDP is down (GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT) and the percentage pay is strictly off freight rate and does not include all revenues to the truck such as
Surcharge , unload, pump pay, cleanout, etc.. which with the surcharge they can dicker the freight rate to be lower through a broker and push more to surcharge which nets you less and the company more (if that makes since. ) Just look into it deeply and dont make a rash decision but I know times are tough..
I hang out here allot more than the other place (board so you will find me here more..
If you need anything holler at me ...

Thanks for the advice Ky24. I have looked at Oakley and not sure about them, I have heard alot of bad and some good, Just uneasy about them. Indian River I have ruled out. The other 2 I have not really looked at but I will. Again thanks for the help. i like other board due to I can PM you and other guys with questions. But I am working on my 50 here LOL Later and thanks.

I tend to stick around here due to more traffic and more users .
But I swoop in from time to time on the other site ....

I think you will like pulling them bulk tanks, that is an easy job, just remember, they are a bit top heavy
-
never pulled a bulk tank(dry) I assume on the top heavy u are refering to pneumatics...
Flour, sugar stuff like that I can see the top heavy on those type trailers -
Im use to the top heavy stuff. Nothing like 10 yards of concrete rolling around behind you to keep you on your toes.
What kills me is I had 5 years OTR and 3 of those were as an owner Op. Had a Mishap and was out of work for 6 mths due to my health. Came back and was almost dug out of the hole I was in and my truck decided #2 Rod looked better on the outside. I was forced to let her go with all my reserve used up. So I took the local job. Most of the time im in a 12 Yard mixer with 2 drop axles Grossing around 76 to 77K. I sometimes get to pull our dump trl. around. But since I have been local and not OTR for 5 years most companys dont wanna touch me as I am finding out and those that do, Just not needing drivers. So KY24 guess I will wait for the door in Atl. to open up and try not to kill the hero's I gotta work under now LOL. We really need to start a board to just vent on LMAO would make for some good reading. Im Out.
