Many moons ago trailers didn't have park brakes, just service pots. Had to "charge" the trailer air system then "dynamite" it (pull the red button out again). This put a full service brake application on the trailer brakes. Now you could back under with less risk of it rolling away on you.

How ever. I would not do it on the road side. Find a safe parking spot in case you need to work and cuss at your truck for more than 10 minutes or so.

Easy, Just change the primary filter all you need to do is fill the new filter with auto trans fluid, screw it on and go. Dump the old one out in the weeds and look to see how much water is in it.

Your engine HAS a PRIMING pump, locate it and use it to fill the filters.
