    You can hear exhaust manifold or boost leaks better if you rev it up and let the engine brakes hit. One person reving and one person listening in the around the engine is a plus to isolate.

    On a a-cert if cat does it... I'm guessing about 5 or 6 hundred in parts and 8 hrs labor an after market manifold is $1400. If your stock one isn't bad you can reuse it.
