Can't disagree with that...but too many states wouldn't want to have to spend money to change the way they do things for that to ever happen. With so many variations, I doubt there is a majority of states following any similar lighting scheme, so the majority of states would necessarily have to take a budgetary hit implementing such a nationwide standard.

We do a lot of traveling on small curvy roads (roads not really made for trucks). Sometimes, even if I'm legal size, I will turn on my caution light on these roads, where I'm taking up part of the other lane. If I have a breakdown on the side of the interstate, I'll also turn on the caution light.
The thing about TN is, you don't need a light at all hauling oversize, unless you are running at night.
