A "blade runner" parked next to me for a while where I rent a spot in a secure yard in OKC. He's an owner operator. The trailer set him back over $200K. Deadheading he's at 67,500. Loaded he's over 200,000 lbs gross and 178' from front bumper to tip of the blade. He makes $22.50 per loaded mile, with half of his miles unpaid deadhead.

When I asked how much he nets per year he didn't say a thing. Didn't need to. The #### eating grin on his face said it all.

It's hard to comprehend just how big those blades, columns, cones, and generators are until you get up close. Each component requires a different specialty trailer. Then there's the cranes that assemble the windmills. I've been involved with crane moves for wind farms. About a dozen trucks are required to move one crane, with a smaller crane to help disassemble the big one.

When I grow up I want to be a blade runner.

 

No. You can't. I called dibs.

 

I saw a dude in like a '05 old CRE century with a section of the windmill body the other day lol.

 

You got 3 more months. 90 days. Then you and kitty can live the dream.

I'm not kidding. I have a guy coming in a few weeks, and he's getting a nicer truck than mine lol!!!!!
