Interesting tidbit: prior to my leaving Providence, we had a meeting to discuss the absence of our manager. We had a lot of questions and concerns that remained unanswered. The meeting was called by the then-director of the whole operation. He reassured us repeatedly that our future was strong there. Turns out he already had exit plans for himself in place when he lied to us, and knew that the operation would be closing in time.

BTW, he is now in charge of operations at Cheema...

A religious symbol on the trucks was a pretty good sign that they would not act morally. Like when I see a little fish on a business sign, I think,"thanks for the warning".

Sorry, can't buy into that c***. This was a good place to be while the nuns were still in charge. The symbol goes back long before the people in charge now.

I'm glad I'm not the only heathen who thinks this. Religion is just a marketing ploy to companies.

How did the nuns happen to give up control?

There's very few of them left, literally only a handful, and the youngest is in her late 60's.

I looked Providence and read a bit, it looks like they were founded on sincere and useful core principles and are now being corporatised/monetised?

In the worldwide scandal, the nuns were the forgotten victims. Not surprised to see their numbers dwindle as a result.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

Sorry again. The history of Providence dates back as far as 1843. Providence did not start as a "company", but a religious ministry.

Let's get off the bashing of Providence as a whole, can we? They still do plenty of good, for the meantime. If it continues, I'll just ask the mods to close or delete the thread. What has happened there is the result of a few bad actors, not the ministry as a whole.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
