No, not really. 7/8-wave at 27 MHz would be roughly 7 x 53 inches inches long, or 30.9 feet. And, since it wouldn't have a feed point impedance of 50 ohms, it would need an impedance matching coil, adding to its overall length.
Not very practical on a mobile, guying needs aside. And remember, loading coils don't radiate.
The only exception is when a coil is wound as a helix, and a 7/8-wave helix would still be really, really long.rabbiporkchop, Slowmover1 and skellr Thank this. -
I ordered one out of curiosity. I'm hoping it will be easy to disassemble. I'd like to know what they did to get all that "length" in such a small package and still rate it for "7200 Watt P.E.P.".

If they had an so239 version I'd buy one.

Ok, here we go. I was wondering about the barrel that was on the whip. It's just where they decided to split the whip. Nothing hiding in there, just a "joint".
Just a couple of set screws and a pair of set screws at the base for adjustment. No Allen wrench supplied.
I don't see 7/8 wave of of material in there....Last edited: Oct 15, 2018
handlebar, Meteorgray and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Given the name on the item, I’d expect pretty decent performance. And longevity.

Longevity— as I think about it — may mean the most.
