07 freightliner century, loss of power, running hot

Please concentrate on temperature first for obvious reasons or the rest is pointless. Are you adding coolant? Coolant color? Last thermostat? Water pump? Recent engine work/repairs? Fan clutch type? All these things in no particular order are primary considerations that might shed light on some of the other issues your experiencing.Rideandrepair and Oldironfan Thank this.

Again, just trying to help you... you say the belt is loose? A proper belt tensioner SHOULD take up any slack as the belt stretches with age. About what temp does your fan engage and THEN shut down? Does your engine piping/tubing show any wet spots all the way up to the cab firewall? A simple radiator cap that has some age on it will allow a "boil-off" to occur. In MY opinion, 200+ degrees is not a normal operating temperature unless your just in from a 12 hour day at the oil patch. Inspect your radiator top and bottom cap seams, most trucks now days have a surge tank mounted atop the radiator and its condition? Is the fan clutch slipping when it engages? As for loss of power, my first question will always be about fuel filter(s).Rideandrepair Thanks this.
