Try posting 5 ads on CL and 5 ads on Indeed paying 65k/yr. For heck of it put home weekends too. Report back with how many calls you get.

Ok ok I’ll save you the couple hundred bucks. Answer is zero. Now if you had a truck in the driveway that your paying payments and insurance on, plus a trailer the same, and you get these results, does this begin to change your opinion on if there is a driver shortage?

There is no shortage of trucks nor shortage of companies big and small. Everyone is clamoring and has been for the last 1.5 yrs to expand. Well now massive expansion has happened and the rates become pressured downward. 10’s of thousands go out of business every year.

Everyone thinks drivers should be paid more including me, but go own a truck and trailer and hire a driver and try to make it profitable. You’ll see there are a bunch of yayhoo’s who constantly are undercutting you. SO you gotta be careful to not overextend yourself because lean times are right around the corner. Always have always will be.

When there are no longer tons of drivers able and willing to live in a truck for 400/wk then it’ll surely help wages for all Americans.

Yeah but 65 k/year for 70 h a week (reset on the road?) is like 2 35k/year jobs and no overtime! For all that risk and responsibility??? Got up at 4 am today to make 5 am delivery. How many people do it? And I am still here.5h and 4 minutes.I feel like I don't wanna do it anymore!

I feel yah brother! Read my next post as I anticipated one like yours. Honestly though you can post for 75,000 and still get the same amount of calls.

Every day I am out I see roads clogged with trucks. When I go shopping there is an abundance of goods on the shelves. When I try to find a parking spot on the night shift it’s always a challenge of flat out impossible. There doesn’t appear to be a driver shortage from my perspective. If the Megas can’t find drivers they should do the right thing and declare bankruptcy. I won’t miss them.

I don't know how many o/o go bankrupt in a year.
But if you read TTR regularly.
All owner ops on here make 3 to 4 bucks a mile
And only work 7 months out of the year.

I've been out here a long time.
Personally I don't know one owner/op who has
    2 nickels to rub together.
In fact, every one I use to know who had a truck
Gave them up. Went back to being a company
    Driver. Never been happier.
No stress and a paycheck every week.

I've spoken to a 1000 ex owner/ops in my time
Who went broke and vowed to never buy another
    Truck again.

I have no idea how these guys make it running
Off of load boards with new truck payments.

    Coover and Rideandrepair Thank this.
