Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise. Previously I wrote concerned about a triple bypass and the DOT physical.I took the physical, presented the required documentation and passed. For my past surgery I am only able to get a 1 year certification and I think that is fair. My questions are. I am now attending a driving school. I am not sure how to approach the companies I apply to. The last thing I want to happen is to be invited to an orientation then be sent home because of my past surgery. Some companies ask health questions on their pre hire applications and some do not. Should I report my surgery to the company and furnish documentation of my clearence to drive when applying or only when I take their physical. Could anyone recomend a company that will hire new drivers and have hired drivers who have had heart surgery. Thank you for your help.
Help again please.

If you have your certificate there is no grounds for refusal . They will send you to a doctor of their choice though . Look a Carrol Shelby . How many years ago did he have heart surgery ?

Were you able to get a job with the heart bypass. I have also had triple bypass over five years ago and got a 1 year DOT medical. I am attending CDL school now and starting to put in applications. Did you disclose condition up front. -
My Significant other has had heart Surgery, Like you he can only get a medical card for a year and has to have a stress test every year, Stevens Transport who he went to first sent him home( Thank god) he then went to Central Refrigerated and has been there for a while now.
So it just depends on the Company.
