I would assume you coming across as smarter than the others. Would see the industry will still offer choices. Even if the mega-bottom-feeders will buy an easy vehicle to run the novice driver in to save money.
I would of hoped you would of responded to the OP instead of add to the fodder.

They've been teaching novice drivers on manual forever. It's simply fuel mileage. The autos, for all their faults, tend to get better fuel mileage than a manual.
The spec trucks that dealers have sitting on their lots are also generally always auto. The dealers will sell you on the great fuel mileage the autos get and the standard build sheet for the trucks are auto.
Now if you want a manual, the dealer can spec it and build it for you. Heck the dealer can spec and build pretty much anything you want.
In 2021/22, when the current fleet trucks hit the used market, you're going to be hard pressed to find a used truck that isn't auto.joshuapowell61 Thanks this. -

Who still has a manual truck at Swift? We still have a handful of 14 and 15s on our fleet, many of which are slated for trade in soon. One even has almost 900k on the clock somehow.

The Allison TC10 has my interest. Waiting to hear more feedback on it other than its really expensive. Wish they were adaptable to a C15. I still see lots of new trucks advertised with the 18918B. That would be my choice of transmission if I were to spec new. Don't think they're going away anytime soon.
