I'm doing a lease purchase with a very small company, only 6 drivers. I have been trying to pick a name for months. What's a good but free website to check if the name I want is available? My brother used our last name with LLC. I have no clue what I'm going to use yet. I only have a year in trucking. I started with werner, they suck just all the big companies.

You can type the name into the search window at:
    SAFER Web - Company Snapshot

    See what pops up.

I always figure as a rule to never work for a place with logistics in the name. Or anything like overnight express.

I always come to this site to get real talk, from real truckers. My questions are: When I start my own trucking company and I have someone driving with me am I required to be an LLC? Does an LLC give me any tax benefits? Can I just run off of a DBA instead of an LLC and get the same tax benefits?

Need to talk to a Tax person as most Truck Drivers are full of mos information taken from other Truck Drivers myself included. All I can tell you is an S Corp has worked well for me also known as a flow thru corporation for tax purposes. I have since read in an article written by tax experts in Landline this was best option. Works for me as my tax bill is minimal
