These days you need the option to drop hook loads. I lease to a carrier just for that benefit among others that i would no longer see as a single OO

Maybe he has a point?...
We should all aspire to become the "Best, Cheapest Carrier(s)" out there then? -
In addition, he said his all miles rate with a refrigerated trailer is $2.10 a mile, seriously?
I've never run refrigerated as an owner operator. But $2.10 a mile seems really cheap!
So, It appears, to me at least, he's succeeding at being the best cheapest refrigerated carrier out there then? Or are there others who are running refrigerated cheaper still?DUNE-T, SL3406, whoopNride and 1 other person Thank this. -
Calling for possible nor'easter by this weekend in upstate NY. Grab your moon boots and thermal underoos and open up your wallets.

Some more niche style high end shippers have more to worry about so willing to pay more. I love them for it too. They can’t afford mistakes and will pay what’s needed to find truckers who take it serious.
I think what he was saying is... his goal is to be one of the best quality carriers while maintaining the lowest possible operating cost, so that he can offer a good service for an affordable cost to the shipper. This is how he plans to make it in the long term ebb and flow. I admire being the best and being able to run for the least. Where I’m different is I want to be the best, be able to run for the least, but charge the most. Now THAT is how you make money! -
Most people realize that the cheapest is rarely the best. The trick is to pay attention to what the market is doing and charge accordingly. Most shippers are interested in getting on-time pick ups and deliveries in the safest possible manner without damage to the cargo. At least that's how it is with my clients. Other than that, look and act professional without an attitude, and you'll keep clients for a long time.
20 Mule Team Thanks this.
