Highway tolls considered to fund rail

Why should highway traffic have to pay for railways? For some reason, that just sounds wrong to me.

 

I wonder if the railroad will pay for repaving the roads?? Dont hold your breath!! Just another money grab in my books,quick question why are we hearing so much about carbon footprints? Dollar to a donut they will be taxing our cf 5years from now .

 

That's simple, there's more highway traffic than rail traffic, plus they know that people have to use that road so they know that even with a toll there will always be people on there, which gives them endless money, and the toll will stay open even after it's paid for

 

Well, that explains HOW they do it, but why should it be done that way? Other than the fact that they like to have as many ways to screw the public as possible.

 

As for the Why, these people that are planning this are politicians, we all know that they are dumb and as you said like to screw us in the wallet, and it looks like they succeed again, plus I have yet to meet a politician that cares about the district that he covers

 

Yea, most people don't know how much power the rail companies have in the US. This doesn't count Amtrak of course. We're talking OLD money.
