Used oil into the fuel is a thing of the past. I think you can still get the Cummins Centinel System, but I also think it is now illegal to use in California due to emissions. All in all, it is not a good idea to add because when oil does its job it will hold contaminants and soot which will be small enough to gum up injectors or plug up filters if you use enough of it. If you have a newer 07 truck with a DPF, you will plug up the DPF sooner. DPF do have a life span and they are still very expensive.

Yeah I know man. Just thought it was an interesting topic for the guys that had never heard of it. Just a little flashback.

Roadway still uses a dripper system.......not as bad as dumping 10 or more gallons into the fuel system though....

That's intereseting. I once drove for a company that had installed oil reservoirs on the back of the sleeper, to avoid buying oil on the road.
Basically shaped like an air starter air tank(only smaller) with an oil line going directly to engine. Simply opened a water faucett type valve to add oil. Gravity feed. Later they went to an air pressurized model where you simply pressed o button.
I never thought they saved enough money on oil to justfy these contraptions. I think some smooth talking salesman talked them in to buying them' -
I just save my used motor oil from my oil changes and use it for bar & chain oil. Part of me wants to use it as 2-cycle oil in my trimmers. I have one I got for free, I should try it in that one first, after I fix the pull rope. Anything I don't use, I haul up to an AutoZone to dispose of the next time I need to buy more fresh oil.
Junkyards used to offer oil and coolant, used, filtered, for people whose cars consumed a lot of it. In fact I'm pretty sure the local Pick N Pulls still do in Fort Worth and Dallas. At $9-$10 a gallon for new coolant, $2 a gallon for used sounds like a great deal. I have one of those coolant testers with the little beads in a dropper thingie. Maybe I should test before I buy? -
I worked at a gas station as a teenager (early 70s) and we sold recycled oil. We pumped it into these quart size glass jars with metal spouts. Like .20 a quart back then.

Go into to a Petro shop and ask what they do with their old oil
-
soot shouldnt be making past primary filter and #### sure wont make it past secondary if you are using the factory recommended micron
-
I seriously hope none of you put used motor oil in a high pressure rail Diesel engine.
These ain’t old farm motors the tolerance are incredible right.
Used oil isn’t clean it’s got bits of metal, dirt, etc and will destroy injectors and injector pumps.
If you decide to ignore this fact atleast filter down to 4 microns before adding it to the tank. This is on pre emission trucks. -
cats use 2 micron on secondary but either way, i wouldnt put that crap in my tank. i got a guy that comes and grabs my oil to use for heat
