What used to be slightly annoying to me was other governed trucks passing me on a hill. My truck sucked climbing hills, and I had doubles, triples, and regular dry van trucks pass me all the time, and then when we topped the hill I'd start to catch up with them, and either had to slow down or pass them.
When I passed them, they usually where governed at 64 I am guessing, and I was governed at 65. Cause I did pass them after climbing the hill, but as you stated it was a long and tedious process.![]()

Nope, sorry but if you're in the hammer lane doing 10 mph under the limit for 5 miles trying to pass who ever, the blame lays with you for not backing out of it and getting back over to the right. Keep right except to pass, by most everyones standards, entails getting said pass done IN FAR UNDER 5 MILES.
Trust me, you have my sympothy for having to drive a neutered truck governed at 60 mph, and trust me again when I know your predicament when you get over for another slow truck that's merging, only to find yourself hung out to dry in the hammer lane in a stalemate side by side.
It's the 5 mile stalemate that pisses us all off.....Which is why I run the car pool lane for 15 seconds, so I can get around y'all.
Like I posted earlier, it's the 5 mile side by side stalemates that pisses the rest of us off. You 60 mph trucks figgure out amongst yourselves where the blame lays. Just dont blame 75 mph trucks cuz they would like to pass your happy AAA in the 15 seconds it takes, were there one more left lane available to do it. -
I dont have a ton of experience, but I drive an ungoverned truck and get paid by the hour, Detroit to Cincinnati. I see all kinds of knuckleheads. I set the cruise at 58 in ohio and 64 in michigan, I stay out of everyones way. If I roll up on ya at cruise, I'll ad two and get around ya. If youre on me, I'll back down two If it helps your cause. I wish knuckleheads would learn that merging is a priveledge, not a right. If youre comming on and I can move over I will, If I cant I wont. If youre way up, I'll back down, If not, you back down. If Imove over to let you in, get the hell out of the way so I can get back over. This is not a "Truck Driver" problem its an A__ Hole problem. IVE found some of the nicest guys and biggest pricks in this buissiness. Bottom line If you want my spot come get it.

I drive one of the slow governed trucks. I used to drive a 75 mph truck and an 85 mph truck. The OP is right, it's just a courtesy and common sense thing to not block the left hand lane for any length of time. Worse comes to worst, and I'll just pull into a rest area or off ramp for a few minutes, or slow down a few mph, and let the knucklehead that won't let me pass get on down the road.
Been doing this for almost 20 years now (driving semi, that is), and have learned that a few minutes either way is no big deal.
I'll be honest, I find driving a slower truck is much more relaxing. When I did have a fast truck, everyone was always in my way, it seemed! Now, hardly anyone slows me down, LOL! Sure, I could have driven slower in those fast trucks, but it just doesn't seem to be in my genes. Now I have no choice in the matter, and it's OK. -
I was going to say this exact same thing. Having driven both governed and ungoverned trucks, I've gotta admit that the stress level of driving a slow truck is much lower than driving a fast one.
As to the original post, I agree with what you're saying. However, I also agree with what Winchester has said. There's gotta be give and take on both sides of this, which is more commonly known as courtesy.

I drive an ungoverned truck and I can't stand it when I'm coming up on 2 governed trucks and at the last minute the one in the back decides to pass leaving me and all the others stuck behind them for 10 miles while they TRY and pass.
This is a thread I started about this subject.

The solution is simple. Refuse your driving services to any company with governed trucks.
-
Good luck with that. More and more companies are doing it. The ATA is trying to push it through congress to make speed limiters mandatory for everyone, including owner ops.

Governed trucks are going to become more and more the norm, especially with the crybaby bedwetter party running the country right now. -
Speaking of this do you know if US trucking running in Ontario have to comply with the new speed limiter law?
-
Yes, they do
Entering Ontario is the same as entering Komufornia. Eveyone is supposed to play by the laws of that land, regardless of where they are from.
