It's the driver's responsibility to keep the tarps from getting damaged. If they can't do it without damage being done, then the load should be refused, or things bought extra and charged to the customer to get it there in one piece.
You can't blame the customer's freight for your short comings. You are the company they hired to do it right, either do it right or respectfully decline to move it.
This "blame someone else for my problems/mistakes" attitude is not becoming of a professional. -

Dang. Won't be the last time there will be tarp issues with a driver like that. Just trow on the tarps and go no matter what the load looks like?
