Seriously, what company do you recommend for a new driver?!

There are many reasons you can be inadmissible. One example, if you get pulled in for advanced questioning and you miss one of their questions, they will treat you like you like one of the faces on the John Walsh show. It can mean a permanent ban from the FAST program, and, even if you are given a one-day ban (sent back to Canada with no charges, no fines and no paperwork from them) it can affect your ability to go back there again.

Not sure why you went on about ACE and all that other stuff, which is irrelevant to admissibility. If you really think it's that easy, try being a former foster child with a long list of childhood problems that you had no control over, only to have to explain all of it to a border agent during advanced questioning. You'll be brought to a detention cell, with several uniformed officers and be met by someone who is in regular civilian attire, and that non-uniformed person will be the one with a clipboard and paper asking you several hundred questions about your entire life. The guy told the officers, "This guy wouldn't hurt a grape". That didn't stop the officers from destroying my career.

Let's say someone in your family is a spy for a foreign country, but you didn't know. You grew up your entire life and never had any clue that this was a real possibility. It's a very real scenario and most of us who get paid 46 cents a mile can't afford all the lawyers in the world to go through our history. You really think a clean criminal record is all one needs to have? I wish! I don't think that was ever part of my situation, but whatever it was, I'm not even allowed to know the reason. When I got back to Canada, I was told that I had a very good reputation and no problems at all on the Canadian side with respect to records. Got to speak to the big boss, you know, two thick white bars on each shoulder for rank insignia. Probably one step below the government official level. (The guy who makes public speeches in the media about official info on the CBSA has 3 bars on his shoulder.)

The waiver of inadmissibility is not a guarantee. Let's say someone in your family was actually a spy for a foreign government, and you didn't know. You're blacklisted from everything. (I often wonder if this is why I could never join the military.) You cannot get a waiver for that. Nobody will ever tell you what the problem is, either.

I saw others recommend Challenger, it's ok if you want to do team. They pay teams much better than singles. The company itself (dispatch, customs, breakdown and etc.) is well organized. Under no circumstances though, go to Challenger for city work in Cambridge/GTA. Pay is very low, trucks are zombies, as in "parts are falling off them as you drive" and dirty as hell.

If you want city work, Purolator is hiring in Toronto (may be elsewhere too). It's a union job, 24.38/hr to start, then 31.something. 40hr week, unless you want more hours. Good company.

I'm looking to make serious cash working OTR. I have pets, anyone know what companies allow pets as company drivers? I only know of Bison...
